Bareilly Cantonment is spread in a beautifully developed vast area ad-measuring about 4300 acres which comprise Civil areas, Army formations
and establishments like HQ 6 Mtn. Div., HQ UB Area, Jat Regiment Centre, JLA, Military Hospital, DOT & Postal Deptt., MES Zonal Chief Engineer, DEO, Kendriya Vidyalayas, reputed public schools, Management Institution and public markets etc. Bareilly Cantonment located near the Railway Station and Satellite Bus Station is conveniently approachable and well connected with prominent establishments and residential localities of the city. |

The Badaun Road and NH-24 leading to other States, District Hqrs are passing through this Cantonment and have enhanced the significance of this Station.
Cantonment Boards are statutorily constituted local bodies, comprise elected representatives, ex-officio and nominated members.
The Bareilly Cantonment is a Class-I
Cantonment and this Cantonment Board consists of seven
elected members, 03 nominated members, 03 ex-officio
members (Station Commander, Garrison Engineer, SEMO)
and one nominated member of the District Magistrate.
An officer from the Indian Defence Estates Service (one
of the Central Civil Services) acts as the Cantonment
Executive Officer and the Secretary of the Cantonment
Board. The Station Commander of the Station is the Ex-officio President of the Cantonment Board who presides over the meetings of the Board.

Principal Director, DE, of the level of Additional Secretary at the Centre, is posted at the Headquarters of each Army Command, who apart
from being advisor to the GOC-in-C, is answerable
to the Director General, Defence Estates and through
them to the Ministry of Defence.
At present the Cantt. Board has only 02
nominated members apart from the President,
as the Constitution of the Board has been
varied by the Central Govern- ment under
section 14 of Cantonments Act, 1924.
GOC-in-Chief, of the Army Command con- cerned, acts as the local Govt. for the Cantonment Boards situated within his Command.The administration of
the Cantonment Boards is supervised by the
Defence Estates Organization. |
