The Board has widely taken care of
the environment by adopting necessary measures for conservation, ecological and aforestation at large in Cantonment area. |
|
|
PLANTATION |
The
Cantonment Board has carried
out plantation on large patches
of vacant land and road berms.
Saplings of different species
such as Conical Ashoka (Ornamental
plant), Sheesham, Amaltaas,
Arjun, Gulmohar, Kanji, Jarul,
Gulmohar, Sagaun, Neem, Eucalyptus,
Semal, Mango, Khinni, Jamun,
Amla, etc. have been planted.
The saplings/plants have been protected by means of tree guards having metal plates with thought provoking slogans pertaining to environmental awareness. The Govt. of India, Ministry of Forest and Environment has recognized the efforts of the Cantonment Board in this area by awarding the 'Indira Priyadarshni Vrikshmitra Award-2001'. |

HORTICULTURE |
It
would be interesting to note
from the history of Bareilly
Cantonment that during the British
Rule the Cantonment Board (then
the Cantonment Committee) was
supplying Flowers to the
Commander-in-Chief in the Delhi
Darbar. The Board has undertaken
up-gradation of public parks,
aesthetic development of traffic
islands etc. |

PARKS |
Gandhi Bagh This public garden being maintained by the Board has been aesthetically developed with provision of the Shaheed Smarak, Rose Garden, Fountain, Water cascade, Senior Citizens' hut, childrens' zone, restaurant, tiled pathways, ornamental lighting and a variety of floral, ornamental plants etc. |

| The magnificent and attractive Dwars have been constructed at the prime entry points of the Cantonment. The naming of the Dwars is thoughtful and theme oriented as given below: |

(a.) Gantantra Diwas Swarn Jayanti Dwar :
Marks the golden jubilee of Indian republic.
(b.) Sahastrabdi Dwar :
Marks the onset of the New millennium.
(c.) Lt. Hemant Bisht Smarak :
Marks tribute to Lt. Hemant Bisht who made supreme sacrifice fighting the insurgency in J& K.
(d.) Vikas Path Dwar :
Marks the commencement of widening/strengthening of Badaun Road.
(e.) Vijay Dwar :
Marks the Kargil victory and tribute to the Kargil war heroes.
