SANITATION
 

Cantonment Board is responsible for cleaning of streets, public places, Drains, removal and collection of garbage, abating nuisances and removal of noxious vegetation. The whole Cantonment has been divided into three zones for Sanitation purpose. The Zones have been further divided into circles. Each zone is being looked after by the concerned S.I./A.S.I. and each circle is looked after by the C.J./S.J.

The details of the officials responsible for maintaining the sanitation along with the zonal jurisdiction are as under :

SLAUGHTER HOUSE

The Board maintains two slaughter houses, one for the pigs and the other for goats/sheep. The animals are slaughtered after the examination by the Sanitary Superintendent/Sanitary Inspector and carcasses are duly stamped. The slaughter fee is charged @ Rs. 25.00 per animal.

CONTROL OF NUISANCES

Market and cattle raids are organized to control the nuisance. Further administrative and legal action is taken under the provisions of Cantonments Act, 1924 for the control of nuisances.

Following conservancy staff and fleet is available to render the conservancy services to the troops and the general public.

TRENCHING GROUND

The Cantonment maintains a trenching ground at Thiria road. The garbage collected from all over the cantonment area is being disposed off through the composting method in the trenches. The compost manure prepared is sold at Rs. 300/- per trench on receipt of application from the needy such as farmers and horticulturists etc.

ANTI MALARIA OPERATION

Larval control is being monitored through the intermittent use of larvicides. Mosquito control measures have been implemented by way of house to house spray at regular intervals. Apart from the above, fogging is done from time to time. Fly control measures are also under taken during the summer and rainy seasons.

HEALTH LICENSING

The Trade License is required to be obtained by the hawkers and establishments selling/dealing with eatables, U/s 210 of Cantonments Act, 1924 and under the provisions of PFA Act, 1954.

The prescribed application forms for license are available in the Cantonment Board Office during the working hours on payment of Rs. 26.00 each only. The forms duly completed in all respects shall be deposited in the Cantonment Board office. The unit is inspected by the AHO and Food inspector of the Board and deficiencies/observations (if any) are communicated for rectification. After completion of the above formalities, application is referred to Board for approval. There after the license is issued on payment of the prescribed fee.
